Investigation of Learning Environment Based on Mathematical Modeling Activities

This study aimed to examine change in students' mathematical knowledge a learning environment based on modeling activities. The conducted with six students (13-year-old) and examined the seventh graders’ eight activities prepared for acquisition of area measurement subject through applications, video sound recordings, student solution reports, researcher notes. To support data implementation process, individual interviews were held students. findings revealed that teaching method supports skills significantly. development is supported opportunities arise process. formation unit square concept students’ explanation relation by associating it created locomotive effect. showed applications should be included curriculum.
